Cancale Closed

In the fall of 2010 I travelled to the north coast of France, to spend a week in the small town of Cancale at the threshold between Normandy and Bretagne. From here I was suppose to set out every day into the surrounding landscapes and cities, but this experience turned out quite differently. The week I spend in Cancale coincidence with the major fuel strike, and with only enough diesel in the tank to return to Belgium and no prospect of getting any more, I spend the entier week in the remote small city of Cancale.

Due to the strike and that this was a small tourist town out of season it seemed all closed up. I shoot this series called Cancale Closed. Some of the shutters have been photoshopped. The series is for sale.
